The One Lamp We Keep Seeing Inside Stylish Homes
This trending design is making waves in chic homes.
Combining form and function, lights are the high-impact home décor piece du jour. They are one of the most important elements of home design and have the ability to completely transform the look and feel of a room.
When it comes to identifying home décor trends, social media always delivers the goods. From Caprani to Mushroom, we've seen a range of lamp designs trending over the last couple of years. More recently, one model, in particular, is catching the attention of the design world and has begun to appear all over our Instagram and TikTok feeds.
The light in question is 'The Wavy Lamp' by Wooj Design – a jellyfish-inspired illuminator that's 3D-printed, artistic, and affordable.
The ethos of the Brooklyn-based design studio that conceived this shapely lamp is to create functional home décor that’s sustainable, waste-free, and affordable. And they've achieved exactly that with this trending model.
Each lamp is designed, manufactured, assembled, and shipped on a made-to-order basis from their small studio in Brooklyn, New York. Because it's 3D-printed, with heat-resistant corn-based plastic, the final product is manufactured on demand from a digital design rather than crafted from existing materials. It also comes with an energy-conserving LED light bulb.
Beyond the interesting and thoughtful production, this lamp is growing in popularity because it doubles as a work of art – why settle for form or function when you can have both? The beautiful aesthetic leans into both the curved interior design trend and the '80s wavy trend that have prevailed over the last few years. Its wiggly, textured design means it beautifully emits light for a calming visual effect.
The unique creation suits a range of décor schemes, from modern to vintage, minimalist to eclectic and can be used as a bedside table lamp, as a work light on a desk, or as a statement piece in a living room – dare we say it would look lovely paired with our Scalloped European Pillowcases or Scalloped Placemats.
This airy design is making waves in the design world, appearing in the homes of aesthetes like graphic designer Jessica Marak and content creator Polina Meshkova, and is on its way to being the light of the moment in 2023.
