10 of Our Most Popular Home Tours of 2022

The creative spaces serving serious design inspiration.

At Bed Threads, we believe that your home should be a place where you can truly be yourself. We love that we can help people dress their homes how they like whether it's with linen bedding in your chosen colourway, art, tableware, or a simple throw.

Our weekly series The Makers has become one of our favourite parts of the week, and we love sharing interior inspiration from the creatives we are lucky to tour the homes of.

While every home we've showcased in 2022 has been exceptional, there are 10 in particular that have stood out to our followers. Each of these homes is unique because they are an extension of the creative person who lives there.

From petite rentals to large, architecturally-driven homes, these are our 10 most popular home tours of the year.

Frank Body Co-Founder Bree Johnson's Tranquil Inner-City Oasis

Bree Johnson's home embraces a similar "clean" design ethos that frank body does, boasting a sleek aesthetic and natural tones. She and her husband chose a textural palette of natural materials from warm concrete, steel, light timber, and linen, all of which not only look great but are sturdy, too–perfect for a growing family. "Our house is made to be lived in so we needed pieces that can withstand a toddler climbing over them with peanut butter hands," she says.

2. Artist Ashleigh Holmes' Wabi-Sabi Apartment on Sydney's Northern Beaches

Ashleigh's new apartment in the beachside suburb of Curl Curl has been completely transformed by her and her friend Mariah of interior design studio Folk Studio. The space boasts a minimal, contemporary style warmed up with wabi-sabi touches. "My studio is chaotic at times and usually messy so I like to come home to a space that’s clear," she says. The home's dialled-down colour palette also taps into the hues of the landscapes with warm neutrals and varying shades punctuating the otherwise white scheme.

3. HARA The Label Founder Allie Cameron's Torquay Home

In the best way possible, this home almost looks as though it hasn't been touched since the 1960s. Adding to the delightfully nostalgic vibe are decorative yellow and green kitchen tiles which inject the space with colour and charm. These hues can be seen throughout the interior styling palette from the Marianne Roussety artwork in the dining area to the Olive Stripe linen in the bedroom. Vintage furniture and decor are peppered throughout including bentwood dining chairs and a tan Togo occasional chair. "I always want guests to feel cosy and welcomed instead of being worried they’ll dirty, break, or misplace something," she says.

4. The Colourful Three-Storey Sydney Terrace of Creative Ali Whittle

Ali is drawn to colour and this is widely reflected in her decor choices. The interior's overall look is fun and kaleidoscopic, yet perfectly sophisticated. "I love colour, beautiful trinkets, making my space special and unique," she says. A terracotta-toned rug anchors the living area which features chic Sarah Ellison seating, vibrant Dowel Jones side tables, and a playful artwork by Manyjilyjarra artist Doreen Chapman.

5. ‘The Daily Aus' Co-Founder Zara Seidler's Peaceful Mid-Century Apartment

The former political advisor's charming home feels youthful yet refined. The abode leans towards a relaxed mid-century aesthetic with its stereo players, retro lighting, and vintage chairs. Lashings of pastel hues enliven the apartment from the Slim Aarons' print which hangs above an aqua sideboard in the open-plan living area, to the Pink Clay and Terracotta linen in the light-filled bedroom. Elegant details like leadlight windows and an ornate ceiling design bring further character into the home and elevate it to a more sophisticated level.

6. Artist Charlotte Swiden’s ‘70s-Style Home on the Mornington Peninsula

While we often contemplate artists through their divine work, we less frequently think of them in their respective homes. Charlotte's Mornington Peninsula abode is a beautiful example of being conscious about what you buy for your home. Her '70s-style home in Dromana is filled almost entirely with vintage furniture and decor. "We also try to not buy anything new unless we have to," she says. The open-plan living, dining, and office area is where Charlotte works, eats, and paints while admiring the ocean views.

7. Entrepreneur Roxy Jacenko’s Luxurious Vaucluse Home

Roxy called upon celebrated interior designer Blainey North to revamp her home with the designer's signature luxe style. Blainey is the go-to interiors expert for the entrepreneur who has previously engaged her to reimagine three other properties. "She is a dream to work with and I trust her implicitly," says Roxy.

The home in Sydney's Vaucluse boasts timeless appeal with glamorous touches. In the main living room, a chic black and white palette takes centre stage alongside classic wall panelling and seating.

8. Designer Sarah Shinners' Maximalist Rental

As you’d expect, Sarah's abode is beautifully decorated with unique and interesting furniture and objet d’art. “I furnish with my heart," she says. "I’m strongly drawn to colours and have collected pieces over a lifetime of travel."

The interior scheme is maximalist yet refined. A range of graphic artworks adorn the walls and lashings of varying hues are showcased throughout the home. In the living area, a variety of seating designs makes the space feel interesting and playful, as do the unique selection of décor collected while travelling.

9. Cookbook Author Julia Sherman's Mid-Century Marvel in Pasadena

Julia's creative energy flows through to her beautiful family home; a modernist marvel surrounded by lush greenery. "It feels like a treehouse in the middle of the desert," she says. Drenched in sunlight which streams in through floor-to-ceiling windows, this home has an airy and calming feel to it.

The broad colour palette feels perfect for a young family, yet sophisticated and in keeping with the home's mid-century origin. "Living in a mid-century home inspires me to de-clutter, so we really try and be selective about what gets to be in the house," she says.

10. Designer Sara Combs' Desert Oasis in Joshua Tree

Sara Combs' renovated 1949 hacienda home embraces a Spanish meets Moroccan aesthetic, celebrating design and nature. Warm tones that mimic the surrounding landscape dominate the interior colour palette from the rust-toned sofa in the open-plan living area to the Turmeric linen in the main bedroom. Potted cactus have been dotted throughout the home in an effort to blur the line between home and nature.
