Already Missing 'The White Lotus'? Here’s What to Watch Next

From dark comedies like 'Bad Sisters' and 'The Righteous Gemstones' to murder mysteries like 'Sharp Objects' and 'The Undoing', these shows keep the drama coming.

Bad Sisters

Where Can I Watch It? Apple TV+

This Irish black comedy is part family saga, part murder mystery. Following the suspicious death of one of their husbands, the dramedy hones in on five fiercely loyal sisters who will stop at nothing to protect each other. Sharp, emotional, and darkly hilarious – you’ll be rooting for the inevitable demise of the deeply unlikeable John Paul and praying for the Garvey sisters to come out unscathed. The plot thickens each episode, and the chemistry between the leads makes it totally addictive.

Behind Her Eyes

Where Can I Watch It? Netflix

A psychological thriller with enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat, Behind Her Eyes is as gripping as it is mind-bending. No matter how you feel about the controversial twist, there’s no doubt that it’ll leave your jaw on the floor. Set between polished London apartments and hauntingly serene Scottish landscapes, the scenery and performances elevate the story’s slow-burn tension. Delving into themes of memory, desire, manipulation and the lengths people will go to step into someone else’s seemingly perfect life, this show feels eerie and unsettling in the best way.

Big Little Lies

Where Can I Watch It? Max

With a glossy coastal aesthetic and friendships shrouded in secrecy, this series shares The White Lotus’s DNA. With a stellar cast (Reese! Nicole! Laura! Zoë!), Big Little Lies peels back the layers of picture-perfect lives to reveal violence, jealousy, and betrayal simmering just beneath the surface. If you love beautiful people with dark secrets in picturesque seaside locations, this one is for you.

Big Love

Where Can I Watch It? Max

An early entry into the prestige television genre, Big Love is a fascinating deep-dive into a polygamist family navigating modern life in Utah. With Bill Paxton as the family patriarch, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny, Ginnifer Goodwin as his three wives and Amanda Seyfried as Bill’s eldest daughter, the series uses provocative, layered narratives to explore faith, desire, family power struggles and the balancing act of multiple marriages – all while examining the blurred lines between private and public personas.

Death in Paradise

Where Can I Watch It? Prime Video and BritBox

For something a little more sugary but still satisfying, this Caribbean-set detective series delivers sun-soaked whodunits with a charming cast. Death in Paradise leans cosy rather than cutthroat, but its lush setting and episodic mysteries make it ideal comfort viewing – especially if you’re missing a bit of drama in tropical locations. Currently on its 14th season, it might even keep you occupied until the next season of The White Lotus.

Hotel Portofino

Where Can I Watch It? Prime Video

Step into the glamor of 1920s Italy with this elegant period drama – think Downton Abbey, but at a resort on the Italian Riviera during the 1920s. Hotel Portofino offers upstairs-downstairs intrigue and lush seaside views with a dash of continental flair. Centering on the daughter of a wealthy industrialist who moves to Italy to set up a classically British hotel, it’s set during the rise of Mussolini, adding an undercurrent of political tension woven through the emotionally-charged personal drama.

Loot

Where Can I Watch It? Apple TV+

What happens when a billionaire gets dumped and decides to embark on a journey of self-discovery? Maya Rudolph shines in this light yet heartfelt comedy about reinvention, identity, and philanthropy. It’s slick, hilarious, and full of heart – perfect if you liked the wealth-and-woes aspect of The White Lotus (but with less murder).

Made in Heaven

Where Can I Watch It? Prime Video

Set in the lavish world of high-end Indian weddings, this opulent series is more than just stunning sets. It interrogates class, gender, and modern love through the lens of two wedding planners juggling their own personal messes. Bold, dramatic, and unafraid to get bitingly political, you’ll be hooked by the spectacle — and stay for the social commentary.

Nine Perfect Strangers

Where Can I Watch It? Prime Video and Hulu

The second series to be adapted from a Liane Moriarty novel (and also starring Australian icon Nicole Kidman), this spiritual sibling to the sensation that is Big Little Lies wasn’t as critically adored, but still has plenty to love. Like The White Lotus, it’s set at an exclusive wellness resort, this time run by a mysterious guru with a cult-like following. Things quickly spiral into psychological chaos as the dynamics between guests fracture and intensify. It’s eerie, absurd, and beautifully shot.

Ripley

Where Can I Watch It? Netflix

This stylish thriller follows a grifter named Ripley getting hired by a wealthy man to bring his vagabond son home from an extended vacation. Fans of the original 1955 novel and 1999 film will appreciate the new take on the story, this time bringing Patricia Highsmith’s infamous con artist to 1960s Italy. Filmed in black-and-white cinematic glory, it’s hypnotic, haunting, and dripping with unease. If you miss The White Lotus’s sunlit existential dread, slow-burn noir Ripley is your next moody obsession.

Sharp Objects

Where Can I Watch It? Max

Based on the Gillian Flynn novel, this Southern gothic thriller is a psychological deep-dive into trauma, memory, and mother-daughter dysfunction. Amy Adams delivers a mesmerising performance, and the series builds a sense of creeping dread that fans of The White Lotus will enjoy. Not for the faint of heart, Sharp Objects covers some emotionally raw terrain that will make you feel haunted long after the credits roll.

Succession

Where Can I Watch It? Max

Most fans of The White Lotus have already ventured into the world of the Roy family, but for those who haven’t – this is your next watch. A family empire. Inheritance wars. Scathing wit. Succession may be corporate instead of coastal, but its examination of power, entitlement, and rich-people rot makes it an ideal follow-up. If you loved Tanya’s monologues, just wait until you hear Roman Roy’s zingers.

The Affair

Where Can I Watch It? Paramount+

A perfect embodiment of the adage. "There are three sides to every story: your side, my side, and the truth", The Affair explores how a single event is experienced differently by different people. This emotionally complex drama dives into the ripple effects of an affair, with each episode presenting contrasting perspectives of the same events. It’s introspective, layered, and morally murky – the type of storytelling The White Lotus fans will find it hard to turn away from.

The Mosquito Coast

Where Can I Watch It? Apple TV+

Justin Theroux stars in this tense reimagining of Paul Theroux’s novel, playing a radical, stubbornly idealist inventor who drags his family into a dangerous new life in Latin America. Relocating from Massachusetts to Honduras to escape the influence of the United States and the world war he fears is imminent, his plans to enjoy a simpler life don’t go exactly according to plan. Like The White Lotus, it probes the delusions of privilege amongst stunning scenery – a paradise that quickly reveals its darker side.

The Night Manager

Where Can I Watch It? Prime Video

Two of our favorite British actors, Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, lead this high-style spy-thriller based on a John le Carré novel. Espionage meets elegance as a luxury hotel manager turned spy (Tom Hiddleston) comes head to head with a charming villain (Hugh Laurie). The Night Manager is all about morally ambiguous characters in beautiful settings with enough intrigue to keep fans of The White Lotus satiated.

The Resort

Where Can I Watch It? Peacock

A missing-person mystery set at a tropical resort might sound familiar, but The Resort takes a more heartfelt and existential approach. It folds the past and present together with a touch of surrealism, offering something thoughtful, funny, and surprisingly moving. Traversing multiple timelines, this series finds creative ways to explore ideas about feeling the monotony of life, aging and losing your park in a relationship.

The Righteous Gemstones

Where Can I Watch It? Max and Hulu

Again, rich families behaving badly – but this time they’re Southern televangelists. Over-the-top family dysfunction meets big money in this outrageous satire following a family of greedy megachurch moguls. As chaotic as it sounds, The Righteous Gemstones gives Succession with a White Lotus edge, complete with Southern accents, private jets, and scandals. It’s campy, excessive, and wildly entertaining.

The Undoing

Where Can I Watch It? Prime Video

Yet another entry starring our Nic, this time alongside a rich and shady husband played by Hugh Grant. Set among Manhattan’s elite, this sleek thriller unspools a murder mystery that threatens to destroy a seemingly perfect life. Nicole Kidman plays a therapist with secrets, Hugh Grant is a husband with skeletons, and the coats are, frankly, iconic.
