10 New TV Shows to Keep You Entertained in May

This month promises 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story' and a new season of 'The Great'.

The small screen keeps getting bigger, with more and more new series vying for our attention every month. If you thought the past few months of premieres have been massive, wait till you see the shows awaiting you in May: a Bridgerton spin-off, a buzzy Australian true crime series, and a new season of The Great.

There’s so much to watch this month so we've rounded 10 new series and seasons to keep you entertained In May.

1. Fatal Attraction

Where can I watch it? On Paramount+

Pacey from Dawsons Creek has a whole new look in Fatal Attraction, a reimagining of the iconic ‘80s erotic thriller starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Joshua Jackson stars in the Michael Douglas role as Dan Gallagher, whose affair with Alex Forrest (Lizzy Caplan) sends both their lives spiralling out of control. The series promises to take a modern look at relationships, coercive control and personality disorders.

2. Queen Charlotte

Where can I watch it? On Netflix

The ton is abuzz with news of a new Bridgerton show. Queen Charlotte is both a prequel and a sequel, following the young Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) in her courtship with the young King George (Corey Mylchreest), while flashing forward to the present-day Queen reflecting on her family and their achievements. There’s plenty of the present-day Queen, Lady Danbury and even Violet Bridgerton for the fans, but the prequel stuff is fantastic and India Amarteifio is a star. Bridgerton fans will swoon.

3. Slip

Where can I watch it? On Roku

Comedian Zoe Lister-Jones created this show, which is about a woman who travels through parallel universes and lives, all influenced by a myriad of small choices. It’s smart and neatly plotted, a mix of Everything Everywhere All At Once and Sliding Doors. We love Lister-Jones and can’t wait to watch this.

4. XO, Kitty

Where can I watch it? On Netflix

If you loved To All The Boys I Loved Before get ready for this new Netflix spin-off. Starring AnnaCathcart, the scene-stealing Kitty from the original films, the series follows a teenage Kitty as she travels to her mother's homeland, Korea, all while indulging in her K-pop obsession. It’s super charming and sweet.

5. City On Fire

Where can I watch it? On AppleTV+

This sprawling miniseries follows the mysterious disappearance of a young woman in New York and the events that led to her going missing. From the creators of The OC and Gossip Girl, this series does have a different tone but it’s a compelling watch. Jemima Kirke and Chase Sui Wonders star.

6. Queer Eye, Season 7

Where can I watch it? On Netflix

The boys are back, for a seventh season of everyone’s favourite makeover show. Queer Eye’s latest offering will set its sights on New Orleans, looking for a new bunch of heroes in need of a life reinvention.

7. The Great, Season 3

Where can I watch it? On Hulu

One of our favourite television shows is The Great, the saucy and anarchic period drama starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. It’s a loose recounting of life in the court of Catherine the Great, with chaotic energy, gorgeous costumes and fantastic performances by its two stars. It’s back for a third season this month, in which our star-crossed – and badly behaved – king and queen must learn to rule, and parent, together. Huzzah!

8. Platonic

Where can I watch it? On AppleTV+

Seth Rogen. Rose Byrne. Comedy. What more do you need to do? The stars of Bad Neighbours reunite in this hilarious new short-form comedy, about a pair of former best friends in the middle of their life who have reconnected after a fight. Friends once more, their reunion changes the balance of their lives in unpredictable ways.

9. American Born Chinese

Couldn’t get enough of Everything Everywhere All At Once? Your prayers have been answered. This new series, adapted from the graphic novel of the same name, reunites cast members Michelle Yeoh, Ku Huy Quan, James Hong and Stephanie Hsu in this story of a teenager who befriends the son of a mythological Chinese god. It’s a coming-of-age story with a twist, a fantastic cast and great action from Shang Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton.

10. The Clearing
